Our excursion begins with a visit to the National Museum of Toys and Miniatures, located in the completely renovated Italianate mansion of Nelly Don Reed, a self-made millionaire. After a catered lunch at the beautiful Linda Hall Library, we'll tour the Marr Sound Archives, one of only a few depositories for early recordings of all kinds, glass, steel and other unusual plates. This is the only sound museum with Merlin "Robot", and you will meet "IT". We'll be hosted by Chuck Haddock as we put on the headphones and hear a treasured tune or two from the archives in the sound proof room. Do you have an old record that you think is priceless? If so, bring it along and Chuck will let you know just what it's worth!

Politics, Prisons and Puppies on Parole
As we travel east on Interstate 70, our destination will be Jefferson City. Our state capitol was recently named prettiest small town in America by Rand McNally. Today you will learn about the unique prison/animal shelter program where prisoners train dogs to be adopted out, be awed at our state capitol (USA Today has designated it as the most beautiful interior in all 50 states), with the Thomas Hart Benton mural in the House of Representatives lounge. Unique and a bit scary for sure, will be your private tour of the Missouri State Prison - since 1836 - oldest west of the Mississippi, with retired prison guards. Enjoy a step-on tour of the river front of key city sites, and lunch at Prison Brews - a fitting name for the favorite local bistro in the historic district.

"Oklahoma" the Musical
Travel with us to the Missouri Theatre in St. Joseph for a performance of "Oklahoma" presented by the Robidoux Resident Theatre. Set in a Western Indian territory just after the turn of the century. The high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story. Although the road to true love never runs smoothly, with these two headstrong romantics holding the reins, love's journey is as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road in "Oklahoma". Before the show we'll enjoy a fried chicken dinner served family style at Galvin's Dinner House. Price includes transportation dinner and show.
