Platte Valley Bank of Missouri History

August 1906: Certificate of Incorporation was filed to establish a Bank of Deposit and Discount, “Waldron State Bank” to be located in Waldron, Missouri. The amount of capital stock of said corporation was $10,000.

October 1933: An amendment of the Articles of Incorporation of the Waldron State Bank, Waldron, Missouri, changed the name of the bank to “First State Bank of Dearborn” and changed the location to Dearborn, Missouri. Mr. E.P. Wheat was elected as President and Chairman.

September 1961: Mr. G.P. Skinner purchased the First State Bank of Dearborn from the estate of Mr. E.P. Wheat. Mr. G.P. Skinner served on the Board of Directors and was elected as president of the bank.

July 1976: The Byron G. Thompson Family and the E.L. Burch Family acquired ownership in the First State Bank of Dearborn. George W. Skinner was elected president. Total assets were $5,415,127.

May 1980: The main office was moved from Dearborn to Platte City. The name of the bank was changed from First State Bank of Dearborn to Platte County Bank. Jerry Hagg was elected to serve as president. Total assets were $8,838,398.

June 1990: Platte County Bank acquired the Smithville office of the Blue Valley Savings and Loan and changed the name to Platte Valley Bank to better reflect its presence in Clay County. Total assets were $32,570,000.

March 1992: Platte Valley Bank entered the Liberty market through their acquisition of the Home Savings and Loan office. Total assets were $44,402,000.

November 1997: Platte Valley Bank opened an office at Barry Road and Interstate 29. Total assets were $79,317,746.

1998: Platte Valley Bank moved into its newly constructed main office in Platte City, consisting of 18,000 square feet.

2000: Platte Valley Bank opened its second location in Smithville on Highway 169 South.

August 2001: Platte Valley Bank opened its office on Highways 9 and 45 in Parkville. Total assets were $166,380,907.

January 2002: Platte Valley Bank opened its office in Plattsburg. Total assets were $157,125,399.
